In the eighties Janete was a very well-known wedding dressmaker in Bethlehem. Once Janete retired, she began to embroider. Janete’s embroidered clothes and fabrics as well as silver jewelry are all a combination of her personal experience fused with traditional Palestinian heritage. Janete learned to embroider from a young age and has used her skills to help fragile young women earn a living in the Bethlehem area. Janete’s silver jewelry is inspired by Palestinian plants and religious symbols and reflects her deep connection to her culture.
